| Praying Mantis (acrylic on canvas) - Mary found praying mantises fascinating, with their long insect legs, agile arms, and fierce behavior. As in the ant, the backdrop consists of steep, mysterious mountains, a theme influenced by Mary's time in Mexico. This praying mantis is translucent, like so many of Mary's animal paintings, with his innards showing through to expose his inner self. |
