Elephant 1 - Like camels, elephants had a special place in Mary's heart.  She came to know and love these magnificent creatures on her many trips to Africa, India and Sri Lanka, and particularly enjoyed the domestic ones who lived at the guest house where she and David stayed in Sri Lanka. She did a series of pen-and-ink drawings, of which this is an example, that showcase the many outlandish movements and postures that elephants are capable of.
